Katlynn was in the zone, so much so that she forgot she was sticking her tongue out. Luckily she remembered just before Lina landed, and avoided biting her tongue. They continued towards the next jump, and finished the course in record time with no injuries. |

Smitty was a bit of a wild card at pretty much every show. If he didn't want to do something he always stood his ground. Thankfully today wasn't one of those days. Katrina was grateful for that, she didn't really want to deal with any of that today. Smitty was flying through the cross country course like there was no tomorrow. Walt stood out like a sore thumb in his bright teal coat with the alert ottb mare, watching the other rides go before him.
"ugh... those rollbacks are gonna kill me," Walt told me, adjusting his reins as a gust of wind smacked him in the face. "oof, that's gonna kill me too."
"Oh don't say that, Silver isn't scared of some wind. Support her with your leg, and she'll get those rollbacks just fine," I assured him.
"Heh' hope so" Walt said with a deep breath.
"You'll do just fine, if you feel off balance just sit up straight and put your shoulders back, you'll be just fine," I said, patting Silver's neck. Walt nodded.
"Just a heads up, I'm gonna place higher than you," Walt said smugly.
"Oh sure" I snickered and rolled my eyes.

Lara prayed that Thumper would not lose his brain this time and would stay a sensible young man like he did at home. Maybe the horse gods did hear her cries and let the young stallion keep his potato sized brain at a show for once. He was calm and patient, putting up with shenanigans of the bigger horse show (despite the overwhelming amount of friendly mares). Thumper only spooked or bucked a number of times able to fit on 2 hands (a huge success). Nobody died or lost an arm during walk breaks through out the day, a massive improvement for a young horse. Lara considered that weekend a enormous achievement for the scrambled brain stallion.

Battlefield hadn't been on top form all summer; his hesitant approaches to tiny fences, half eaten haynets left unattended for a nap instead. He was leaving the staff baffled; he'd been checked over by three different vets to each arrive at the same conclusion; he's healthy. Rupert was beyond stressed that the promising young stallion seemed to have landed himself in a midlife crisis at the tender age of 6 and had begrudgingly entered his young charge in a lower class than they usually competed in.

Noceur's mantra had always remained simple - eat, sleep, jump jump jump. Simple things like gracefulness, suppleness over tight angles...even stopping really, they didn't matter to him. He had always been a headstrong, almost arrogant type of horse with a shocking white blaze that marked his deep rich coat and had instantly grabbed Indyia's attention that fateful first day they were introduced. In her two seasons of riding him, she'd slowly gotten more comfortable with Noceur's lack of brakes and the way he'd hurl them both over a fence that just had to be jumped that exact second. So as they were halfway round the course and Noceur catapulted them in a huge leap over fence number five, Indyia landed with a sharp thud that felt the stirrup give way and her right foot remained unsupported for the rest of the course.
As she told trainer Alma later in the day - it was just another typical ride on Noceur.
