Maeve was thrilled when she finally signed up to partake in her first fox hunt. She had researched that this local hunt would only drag hunt, so there was no harm to real foxes. They also had an agreement with the neighboring cross country course to allow the hunt to pass over onto the course and utilize some of their obstacles. However, even with all this research, the retired show jumper hadn't anticipated how much Balou would love to run with the other horses, and that he hadn't had much experience with the cross country jumps, resulting in a very spooky and hot ride. Perhaps some lessons with an eventer was in her future, Maeve decided as she tried to slow down her mount.
Even though the sunny weather gave way to a short rain storm and the hunt concluded with a soaked party, Maeve was excited for her next hunt. After a few more schooling opportunities, though. |
