I am now Trollet's #1 fan and anybody else can fight me about it. It's okay if he can't jump, Fjords are the best dancers, anyway. Pssst Walt will fight you over that claim

Trollet is really only this way with little kids and Walt, (he's pretty much the same thing tbh) with older rides he can be a bit stubborn!

11-8-2018 (on this episode of Marquis makes updates: The titles suck, and so do the captions) (also why are there only boys at EYEC) (English Yew/? more like English Boys) (minus Walt, he's from Germany) (English Boys and co, the new boy band) (I'll shut up now)
Tiny Showjumper ~
~ Here's my son, Will, and his shetland pony gelding, Biscuit. When it comes to Will and horseback riding, he pretty much wants to do anything I do. He follows me up to the arena whenever he gets the chance and will sit on the mounting block and watch me ride whatever horse it is I'm riding at the time. It's not completely ideal since I'm known at any stables I go to for cursing when I'm riding, but when there's a six year old watching I'm kind of required to zip it. Will's probably seen me fall of a few thousand times, and unlike my daughter- he doesn't really care anymore. My daughter will get super concerned if anyone falls off but at this point with Will he only gets concerned if I don't get up quickly enough. (Don't know if that's a good thing or a big thing honestly....) Wills already jumping by himself at age 6, and has never had any nerves when riding, if I've done it, chances are he'll do it without batting an eye. He's had a few spills here and there, but just says "uh oh!" and gets back on his pony. I didn't start riding horses till I was 14 (because I was a little terror as a 14 year old and my parents sent me off to jockey school to get my shit together.) so I have no way of comparing how he rides as a kid, and when asking his biological mum, she can't say much. Burt and I have concluded that he most likely got it from me, which Burton said is a bad thing because that means he's going to be an expensive child and frankly I don't know whether to be offended by that or not. Though, I'm pretty certain he'll be a junior international show jumper soon enough at this rate. ~
RL On Melancholy Hill~~Meet RL On Melancholy Hill, aka Ruffian, a 3 year old Arabaloosa stallion from Redloosa Ranch! (I'll tag when I figure out their name on here) Burt's been doing work on him, and lately they've begun work in dressage and Ruffian has had some mixed emotions. Ruffian is a lovely mover when he off on his own, but he hasn't quite figured out how to do it with a rider. Ruffian is still young, and is easily distracted by absolutely anything, he want's to go off and investigate. Burton's been pretty good with letting him investigate things, but he'll want to check things out multiple times which get in the way. Ruffian has no problem with a rider on his back at all, he's not a rude horse, he's just young y'know? Everythings really slow with him. Burton's just recently began to ask for a frame while on his back, Ruffian is very confused by the tight reins and hard leg contact, either he'll break down to a walk or do a weird half trot half walk and jut his shoulder out and turn his head in, like he's doing in the photo. I personally think Ruffian needs more work on the lunge line, but Burton is very confident that Ruffian can do it since he has offered a frame a few times. He just needs to get the muscles from what Burton's been telling me, and I'm just letting him do what he thinks is best since I have barely any experience with training horses for dressage. ~ Burton and Lou~~Burton rode the grumpiest mare in the stable for the first time the other day, and the two actually look really good together!
Fun fact about Burton, he's the only actual eventing rider at our stables and Lynwood & I are just losers! No but actually, Burton is a fantastic show jumper, dressage rider, and x-country rider, he could most likely destroy Lynwood and I in any kind of competition. If it wasn't for the injury a little over a year ago. We went to the doctor a few days ago and found out that the pain in his leg will most likely be chronic from now on and he'll just have to live with it. Burt isn't very bothered by it, he's adamant on getting back to where he was before and has decided to get other his leg pain. He's already told me he's ready to just man up and jump 1.60 and get himself used to the pain. Being his husband, I've been trying to talk him out of it, since I don't want him hurting himself again- but he's very determined to get back to how he was. He still has the muscles, if not he's gained more strength in his leg after the incident. I've been a bit protective of him, and I think he's getting annoyed at this point. I figure my only option soon will be to just let him do whatever the hell he wants and just cross my fingers. Not toooo sure what to do about it. ~
Lynwood & EYEC Talmont I talk about Lyn yet no one has actually seen him yet ~
~ Here's Lynwood with his mare, Tally, showing off the new (and crappy) dressage ring! Lynwood recently came back to English Yew now that we've moved closed to where he lives, but he's always been a friend of Burton and I. His mare Tally has to be one of my favourite horses because she's just such a stunner, and is a total sweetheart. The polar opposite of Loulou honestly. She's always got her ears pricked forward and a swing in her step, and Loulou just wants everyone to drop dead! Woody also has another horse, a palomino British WB stallion, named Danny and he is a massive horse. He's boarded somewhere else, but I'd love to get some photos of him when I get the chance. HOPEFULLY I will include Lynwood more often in updates, but like mentioned many times, I am an idiot when it comes to dressage so for now most captions relating to anything dressage will most likely be nonsensical rambling. ~
Jumping Spots, Racing Stripes, same thing. ~
~ I actually don't really have much to say about this right now, but hey, there's Walt and Banjo jumping 1.40 for the first time, and Banjo's still got some leg space! I think Banjo likes having a small rider since he flew over the jumps like nothing! Though, he needs to adjusted to the different style of riding. He got a bit excited having such little mouth contact. ~
I'm very tired, Cheers!
I've noticed some of my poses make the horses look behind the vertical, that isn't intentional, it has something to do with my horse's confo's in game, which I will be fixing when I get a chance!

2-9-2018 (anyone know why all image hosters adjust the contrast and saturation on my images?)
She's Still Got It ~
~ Even though Midnights been shaved down and bulked up to be a show jumper, she's still got her roots as a gaited pony. Occasionally as a part of her warm up, Walt will ask Midnight for the tolt, just for the hell of it. Midnight usually gets pretty excited when doing a tolt, which I think could be due to the lack of muscles to do it, or just being excited to do something different in general. Walt says he's contemplating getting another icelandic pony, or some other kind of gaited breed just to focus on pleasure riding. He also says it'd be neat to see how his Fiance would do on a gaited horse. (But in that case, another Icelandic horse won't be super ideal since his Fiance is like a giant.) He's also pondered about finding an Icelandic stud and producing his own foal, but he'd rather not. Though, it's an idea. Look's like we'll be going out horse hunting soon! Just in time for winter, so if we do get another icelandic we'll have two little fuzzballs running around the stables! Walt's gonna keep Midnight on her normal training regime, but it's still neat to see Midnight tolt every now and then. ~
Smooth Sailing ~
~ I had a nice ride on Warwick the other day and jumped him about 1.30-1.40, I don't remember exactly, but it was probably a mix of both. However, what I can say is that he makes it feel like nothing! It's a little difficult to tell in the photo, but we still have leg space over the jump. Warwick is such a powerhouse. He doesn't bat an eye at these jumps and is always so willing to work. That paired with the fact he's a powerful and smart horse, I think he's certainly high on my list of favourite horses. I'll reluctantly confess that I actually got left behind a couple of times while jumping him because he just has such smooth yet dramatic movements - I'm honestly not too used to that! Like I've mentioned a billion of times, I come from a racing background and have pretty much been riding ottb's my whole riding career, I've just recently been switching towards warmbloods and sporthorses. They are a bit different from your usual racingbred tb. (No discredit to ottbs, there is no doubt fantastic ottb horses- younger me just really liked difficult horses. I'm an old man though so cant do that anymore.) (I'm only 31, but you get the jist.) Still super upset that he's a gelding. I don't think I'll ever get over that. ~
Somethings Missing Here... ~ (my image hosting site really jacked up this image)
~ Burton said it was too hot out. I know better than to argue with Burton after I indirectly caused him to break his leg a year ago. SO- he did a flat ride on Snoopy shirtless! Y'know- casual? Snoopy was very nice and relaxed during the ride, he didn't fuss at all with Burty and plodded along quite happily. Snoopys finally becoming more comfortable in the new ring with all the distractions. I suppose you can say Burt's also becoming more comfortable in the new ring. *cough.* On the other hand, Snoopy is still attempting to murder me when I ride him, so we still gotta work on that. As fantastic as Burt is, we can't just have horses who choose to rear up when they have other riders on them. I think it may be due to the knew surroundings, but we'll get there! ~
Next week I'm hoping to be able to go see the Cobs back in the lake district, we've been a bit busy at the new place in Oxford. We haven't been able to go down and visit but Burt, the kids and I are hoping to spend a day there pretty soon. But for now, Cheers!
