Medhurst Stable Gypsies 29-4-2018
Back in The Saddle ~ About a year back, my best mate, Burton, broke his leg in a riding accident. To put it simply, he practically got his leg snapped in two, and he's extremely lucky to still have his leg. Burt's had to give up riding for the last year due to his injury, and moved back to London a few months ago. He came to spend the weekend with Felicity and I a couple weeks back, (I'm just now getting around to posting this) and he got to visit my family's stables. Burton brought up how badly he wanted to get back into horse back riding, and Felicity came up with an idea. ~ "So, let's try this, Burt" Felicity said, walking out of the stall, Ally's leadrope in one hand, and our son in the other. She had Burt groom Ally and Felicity told me what tack to get- and I gave her a weird look. "Western saddle and an english bridle?" I asked. "Western saddles have a better hold of the rider, English saddles need a little more 'work' to sit in. I wouldn't want to risk Burt falling off." Felicity explained. "Huh, makes sense" I shrugged and got out the tack.
Felicity let Burton get his feel back for sitting on top of a horse, and using his legs. She stood by him to make sure he didn't hurt his bad leg on accident, and to help out. Nothing too extreme happened, just some standing and walking. Ally was extremely well behaved, just standing quietly while she got tapped on the side every here and there. We're starting with babysteps, but it is certainly a start. ~ English Yew Equine Centre 29-4-2018 A Whole Lotta Thoroughbreds~ Alternatively titled: I have NO self control please send help ~ Well, it appears as though I have 6 new OTTBs. They are all young, and they all look pretty wonky right now. I have plans for some, but I would love to have some input on what I should do with them! I'd love to introduce them to you! ~
This is Shenandoah Swing, aka Shenandoah! She is imported from America, and she is quite the character. She's a very pretty 6 year old, Buckskin Overo, with a floppy right ear. The story behind what happened to her ear is that she broke it during a race because she snapped it back to quickly. Thankfully, she doesn't feel pain in her ear anymore, but her floppy ears are permanent thing now. She's a little sensitive when brideling or haltering because of her ear though. Shenandoah is very playful, and clumsy, (as you can see, by breaking her own ear because she was running) she is also quite hot and spooky. Shenandoah is a strong mare, and has a strong back, and back legs. She has great movements for how clumsy she is with a nice frame. Her weakest points is her right-lead canter, and circles. She needs to develop more strength in her front end. I am leaning towards trying out dressage with her, but I've considered eventing as well, but I feel as if she may be too clumsy for cross country. I also am planning on breeding her to one of my TB stallions. ~
Ah' it appears I've lied, Rococo is a Thoroughbred sport horse and wasn't bred for racing at all! He's a light bay, 5-year old gelding, who's been bred as an eventer! Rococo has a bit of an issue, I don't know if you can tell or not- but he's a bit fat. The story behind Rococo is that after he was trained he was let out into a pasture and forgotten about, so he grazed away. He's already lost some weight, but his owners had to sell him due to the fact they just couldn't handle loosing his weight. Right now he's got a fatty neck, chest, and bum, which will be trained into muscles. Though he's a fatty, he is an excellent horse. He's very forward with great movements, a rhythmic trot, a smooth canter, and a forward walk. Rococo has some issue in tight turns, due to being chunky, but he does fantastic lead changes. Let me tell you, this gelding can jump the moons as well. He also has what I like to call "Chronic Gelding Noise." If you don't know what that is, that shows you don't ride geldings/stallions enough, but the "Gelding Noise" is that weird swooshing/growling noise some boy horses make when working. No amount of cleaning, or adjusting fixes Rococo's gelding noise, and its very obvious when he trots or jumps. I've got a lot of work to do with him, but he's already got a lot going for him. I think he'll become a successful eventer! ~
This is Gem, she's a 3 year old OTTB mare, who hasn't actually raced. She was trained as a sprinter, and she has absolutely no idea how to turn, or how to change leads with a rider. She's a shy mare, but when you gain her trust she's a sweetheart. Gemmy has great movements when she's moving in a straight line, but she has a very weak back end and has a lot of trouble turning. When I was test riding her, cantering her around the turns she constantly does little lead changes because of her weak hind-end. I'm not too worried about this, since she's only a 3-year-old, I would be concerned about her backend if she was say, a a 7 year old, I would most likely pass on buying her. She's got a lovely personality, which in inclined me to bring her into our family. She's got a good head on her neck, and she is very good at figuring out herself, and is very aware of her body. I think Gemmy will also make a good eventer later on, I think she will do great at going through a x-country course, and I think she'll definitely be a horse to save my arse. She also really likes the taste of lemons, and she will destroy lemonade. I think she likes the sour taste? ~
Here's Ireland! She's a lovely 5 year old mealy bay mare, who's raced quite a bit. She wasn't super successful, so her owners sold her. She is the definition of SALT. She's very sassy, and is the alpha mare of her pasture. She's bossy and pushy, and is very hot. Shes got astonishing movements though. She's very forward and fast. Ireland likes to express her emotions, in various different ways. She did throw me off on my test ride, but I loved how she moved so much I had to get her. She needs work on her attitude, but she's a very good start. Ireland bullies the other horses, and has already bullied my stallion, Ian, just because they were in the same ring. She's not violent thankfully, Ireland is just very spunky. Irish is very agile, and once she gets her head into her work she's completely focussed. I would like to train her to be an eventer! ~
This is Winston, a 6 year old OTTB gelding. The best word I could use to describe Winston is opinionated. He's also the smallest thoroughbred I bought. Winston was a very successful race horse, with many winning streaks. His owners decided to sell him since he wasn't as enthusiastic about racing anymore. Winston is a very quirky horse with quite the personality. He is very selective, and will run up to his favourite people, and nip and side stare anyone he dislikes. He has his moods, one moment he's the happiest little thoroughbred, two moments later he's a total grump. Winston has his opinions and he is not afraid to let people know what he thinks. Winston has nice long, sturdy legs, and a surprisingly good hooves for a thoroughbred. He's god a very hard mouth, and a bridle is practically useless to making him stop. Winston responds solely to his rider's seat and legs. He's very, very forward. and is a strong little lad. He has a phenomenal canter, and it fantastic when it comes to collecting and extending his canter. That's lovely, but he cannot trot for his dear life. He's certainly not weak, he just doesn't know how to do it. He prefers cantering way over trotting, just watching him out in the pasture he favours cantering along his mates as they trot. We got a vet out to see if he's lame, but he thankfully it's due to the fact he wasn't trained to trot because he knew how to collect. During my test ride, he was very trippy and unbalanced in his trot, like a lot of thoroughbred horses seem to be. It's difficult to control his trot, because it can get very rushy, but in all his other gaits he is very easy to maintain. Not only that, Winston is a fantastic jumper already, with great stamina, and great agility. I can easily see this man becoming a lovely show jumper! ~
Willow was a total impulse buy. She's a four year old mare, who's got a good track record. I bought her because she looked identical to the first mare I ever raced when I was fourteen. My wife scolded me for getting he because she's down hill. That didn't stop me, because she looked like the perfect Hunter horse. Willow is a doll, she is so cuddly, and friendly, and loves biscuits. She isn't the comfiest horse to ride, due to her downhillness. Willow's strong point is definitely the gallop, and she's got a good motor. I have to confess,, I don't know this mare very well but I fell in love with her. I supposed you're not supposed to buy horses because they look pretty- but I swear she'll be a good horse. ~ Who's your favourite? and why?
Two Tiny Gingers ~ "Walt, why exactly do you have to ride Red in the football field?" I asked. "Because she needs to learn" Walt said. "What?" I ask. "Well, if she's gonna be living here she might as well know what football is because a certain someone never shuts up about it." He said sassily. "Oh, okay so that's how this is gonna be" I scoffed. "Womble this, Womble that, I'm just doing you a favour." He said. "wow, ouch." "Also because my pony is out in the pasture and I wanna be close to him," He pouted. "But he needs new shoessss" he whined "ah' of course, but you made sure to take the opportunity to tease me" I said "why yes, of course Mark, anything for you," He said. Hence why Walt's one of my favourite people. ~
~ "Just saying Waltybo, she makes you look like a normal sized human," I teased. "ShUT. UP. YOU VAMPIRE LOOKING BRICK." He said.
Sorry for the slight Hiatus, (and shoddy edits) Cheers!

Relatable. But, in this case, I think forgivable--these Thoroughbreds are lovely creatures, Gemini especially has a charming lanky kind of quality that I just adore!

Medhurst Stable Gypsies 5-5-2018
Gypsy Mares ~ I am hoping to show some of our gypsy vanners by myself, which franky is difficult because I'm like 190cm tall and slightly overweight, so there is a good portion of the gypsy vanners which I don't ride because I'm too big. There is a good amount that I can ride thankfully, but- I'm in no way a dressage rider. I'm pretty anxious to do my first dressage competition, and I have no idea which horse I should go with. Depending on how I feel, I may as well show both. ~ MS Rawnie
~ Rawnie is a 15 hand, 6 year old. I've ridden Rawnie plenty of times, she's well-behaved and very quiet. Rawnie's super comfy, she's like a couch with legs in my opinion. She's a sweet mare, but she's just a little bit lazy. She's going to be bred to Brishen soon, and I want to get some good shows in for her. ~
~ MS Gairdín Óir
~ Gairdín Óir, (roughly translated to Garden of Gold) aka "Aspen" she's a 14.3 hh 9 year old. Aspen is a terrific pony, with great movements, and she is most certainly a show stopper. She is also very comfy, but occasionally she can but a little excitable. She's got a good personality, and she is lovely when it comes to extending, I just think I'm a bit too big for her. She's strong, but I never want to do anything that's bad for my horses. ~
Sorry for a short update, but I just wanted to show off these lovely mares Cheers!

Does that excuse the rest of my impulse-buy horses? Only if it excuses mine too. Also, Rawnie is my new favorite--love her conformation and pattern! Can't wait to see what kind of offspring she'll produce in the future.

OOC
Welp, I said I would avoid going out of character, but it's one of those things you have to go OOC for.
So, I recently had a poll on my instagram, and majority voted to go back to an old 'storyline' that people really enjoyed. It's not anything huge, but instead Marquis is married to Burton, since that's how it originally was, and I just got bored of the combo.I'm completely chill with switching back, and I actually think it'll help me be more interested in making more sim related stories. (since I know these two characters well)
So, yeah! There's that! I'll have actual posts soon, I've just been hella busy!
