Trotters and Tölters

We have entered most of our non- icelandic horses in Mayflowers Spring Trials, because why not when there is a big show near us, covering almost all the disciplines. Only pregnant and nursing mares and young horses were left out. Here is Sirje's entries in harness racing.

Our theme of the week has been tölt in varying speed. It's been raining hard and the oval track was a muddy mess at the end of the week, so the indoor arena is even more overcrowded than usual. Ilse and Sif decided to train late at night when there's more room for them.  Ilse Vange and Halla frá Nykur
Halla is such a spirited mare with volcanic temper, and Ilse loves her for that. She has just the right sense of humour for all the Halla's quirks. The personality is the reason Halla very rarely is ridden by our trail customers, so Ilse gets to ride her every day and exercise all of her flashy five gaits. We can't wait to show them in competitions! |

Fun irl fact: There's a nice break room where I ride, with a buffet, books and WiFi and such, but I always hang around in the tiny tack room because it smells so good there  |

Hellos and Goodbyes
We sold our mare Gjálp along with her filly Blaka to another icey stable. It's always a bit sad to say goodbye to a horse you have owned as long as we had Gjálp, but we are 100% sure they do great there  Also Snotri was traded to another, a bit more mature stallion. Meet Leikur frá Dalvík!

We showed Leikur in Sunberry Horse Show
Also these sturdy ladies arrived to our stable today. They are Kronholmens Monsun and Kronholmens Belinda, both North Swedish Horses. They are not the trotter types we were planning to buy, but we instantly fell in love with both and couldn't leave them behind. They have a future as trail horses here, and both are trained for driving as well.
We have seven foals born now, cuteness overload everywhere you look!

I have nowhere to link right now (they were on the old forum), but the template was a lifesaver, I have given up trying to make any decent foal-foals, they always ended up looking quite creepy  |
