As light filtered softly through the windows on the far side of the room Basile settled deeper into his seat.

"She should be arriving shortly." She was Mercer Lécuyer; Basile had heard of her in reputation only. Even as someone fairly new to vaulting Mercer's name had come across his path. He knew that she was a junior individual champion and had success in pas-de-deux at the senior level, but he never expected to meet her. He was a gymnast who had been introduced to equestrian vaulting in the last two years and somehow Allese Barbançon, the director of L'academie Équestre de Burgougne and the woman who's office he was currently sitting in, had found him and thought he had potential.

As these silent musings passed through his brain there was a light knock on the door and a woman Basile could only assume was Mercer was standing in the doorway.

"Ah yes, Mercer," Director Barbançon confirmed, "Come. Take a seat." She gestured to the empty chair beside him. "You are probably wondering why I called you here. This is Basile Delsarte.

He turned to Mercer, hand out, "Nice to meet you." With a slight nod and smile in his direction Mercer firmly returned his handshake.

Director Barbançon continued, "Basile is a gymnast and has had some promising showings in individual and pas-de-deux. He has the potential to be a good partner for you; I want you both to give it a try and just see how things go. Competition season is right around the corner, I want you both eating together, training together and really going for it."

At their nods of agreement Director Barbançon smiled, "Good, now get out of here. Mercer, why don't you give Basile a tour of the grounds?"

This is a bit of a throwback. When I originally made the first introduction scene for Damaske Fields, I had intended to do it both from Cassian and Adielle's point of view. I never finished doing the whole scene from Adielle's pov, and I have since moved on. But I already had some of it written and some of the pictures edited so I thought, why not share. This is still from before I redid the facilities. 

Adielle drove through the winding roads of the Monmouth countryside. She'd been to Wales a few times, but never this area; it was quite scenic.



A few weeks ago she had gotten a call from Cerwen, the estate's manager. Adielle was surprised, to say the least, she'd heard of Damaske Fields before, their breeding was renowned, but she never knew them to be a competition barn.



She'd been riding at a small facility in England for some years now and was apparently doing well enough to garner Damaske Fields' attention; they wanted to expand into the competition scene and wanted to start with her.

The trees started to thin and, before she knew it a sprawling estate appeared before her. Slowing her car to a crawl, she leaned forward, into the steering wheel, craning her neck to take in all of the details. From what she could tell, the whole place seemed open and spacious and the buildings had a dark wood and stone theme. There were lines of trees and park-like areas placed around the grounds; it was beautiful.



Pulling onto the property, she stopped in front of, what appeared to be the main stable. A woman was waiting there; she assumed it was Cerwen. Getting out of her car, Adielle made her way over, taking glances at the property around her.



"Cerwen?", she questioned.



"Adielle, dear. It's a pleasure. Welcome to Damaske Fields. How was the drive?"



"It was good, very scenic this place."
