Special is worthy of his name. He's a kind, gentle horse and is an angel when worked with in hand. He looks like the easiest horse to handle in the world, Until you start riding him, that is. There's not an evil or bad bone in his body, but he's very specific when it comes to aids. You have to be perfectly precise in what you're asking of him, or he just plain won't do it, because he doesn't understand you. Other than that he's quite a skittish horse, but very trusting in his rider.
