About Us
Since the beginning we breed quality American Quarter Horses and American Paint Horses, which are known for their responsive, calm and still resistant nature. For our horses we try to provide the most comfortable home, including big stalls with paddocks and huge pastures. Encouraging a natural living, we aim to lower the susceptibility to diseases, increase their immune system and offer them a lot of movement. This way they stay in a perfect and healthy shape, are easy to handle when riding and stay relaxed in most situations.
Our ranch is located in the beautiful state Montana. It's placed between a calming river and a chain of mountains. Surrounded by woods and open fields, it offers great ways to go for a ride and will warm every horse lovers heart. There is still some construction work to do, but most of it is already set. We soon hope to open up our stud and boarding services again!
History
The Big Valley Ranch was founded back in 1918 by Jefferson Valley. When World War I ended, the already elderly man took his two Quarter Horse mares which were known for their calm character as well as their robustness and bred them to successful performance horses. The result was a series of great western horses consisting out of his offspring as well as over the years purchased strong and successful working horses.
At the end of 2009 some of the horses sadly died in a car accident due to an unexpected blizzard when they were on the way to a confirmation show. The owner wanted to sell all the remaining horses and give up the business. Though a young woman called Rosemarie Hall took over the Ranch in 2012, re-established it and planned to move to Montana. Because of circumstances the family wasn't able to move until 2017. Just a short time after Rose finally fulfilled her dream of an own ranch, she sadly got diagnosed with bone cancer. As hard life can be, Elizabeth the only daughter of Rose, now continues her mother's dream together with her father and her two brothers.
It was a long and hard way for the whole family as well as their horses, but just to see them playing and running around on the pastures has made everything worth it.
