CHP They Call Me Thumper was sent away to 'fat-camp', the Southern California ranch, during the winter to be worked daily by the exercise riders there. He came back to up to the main Carousel Horse Park a few days ago and it was his first day back to work. The young stallion was surprisingly more calmer under saddle compared to last fall. He is still a baby, so of course Thumper has his temper tantrums once in a while. Lara, being the experienced rider she is, managed to stay on during the whole ordeal of 'I'm going to spook at that bush and act like its going to eat me'. He took well to the new dressage arena, even though the bushes were 'scary'. Now that he is five, he is jumped more frequently and higher every so often. He is still getting used to the idea of picking up his knees and actually going over the cross rail, not stumbling through it. He still has a lot to learn, and big shoes(haha pun intended) to fill of his dressage father. We are planning to eventually show him in Eventing, though we're not sure how he will like the dressage portion.

Our stable vet deemed that he was fit and strong enough to free jump him, and we've held it off until it was finally more summer like. Of course he had some fun running around like an idiot before getting to the real work. Then came the real work. We raised the poles slightly every time so until we reached the highest he's reached under saddle, 3 foot. We made sure he was able to jump every height twice before moving on. Thumper ended the round by finishing with 4 foot 3 inches, and we are so proud of him. We believe he will grow a few more hands before he is finally full grown, so he has not reached his full potential yet, but he sure does love to jump!

I have been super busy juggling school, homework, horses, and rabbits so my pixel ponies had to be left out for a while. None the less, I am back with motivation to start up again. CHP They Call Me Thumper showed in the Regional Show here on Equus Sims and we are so very proud of him (even though we don't know his placing yet ). He was very calm headed and only made a few mistakes. He is sure is growing into a fine young man!

I think I bit off more than I could chew when I first started again (especially being in high school!) so I sized down. I was active in viewing all the forum posts but was too intimidated to post especially when I don't always love how my edits turn out. So I sized WAY down, keeping only the Dutch Warmbloods, and added a few new horses just for fun. I hope I can be more active now ! Here is our 3 year old mare, CHP Limoges (pronounced luh-moshe). She can be a fiesty beasty, but is usually a sweet heart. We plan to train and compete with her in dressage. For now, Limoges is just being started under saddle and is a little green bean. Please stay tuned for future stories and events!
