In real life, we recognize two main riding fields; English and Western, and almost all disciplines, common and obscure, fall under them. For the ESRPG, however to ensure that horses only develop disciplines that go together and in the spirit of fairness, we've split them in more defined fields of four disciplines maximum.
This guide is here to inform you about each field, the disciplines they house and the types of events found in each of them. Remember that when reaching level 3 in the core careers (horses, characters, and establishment) you will be required to choose a field and a discipline within that field to specialize in.

Fun Shows
The ESRPG is all about imagination and having fun, so we don't rule out Fun Shows! These events include any shows that are competitive but not based on real-life disciplines. They're usually centered around a sport, game, or activity that might fit within a certain theme (medieval, western, etc).
Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: This [...] Discipline is actually an English/Western discipline; why isn't it in that category?
A: In the spirit of fairness, we are trying to allow only 4 disciplines maximum per field and ensure that those actually work together well in one way or another (either same riding style/tack, same origin, or complimentary in function/training.
Q: What happens if I want my horse/rider to compete in two disciplines which are in the same field?
A1: If the Character/Horse is pursuing the Competitor/Athlete career track in only one of their slots:
Choosing a discipline to pursue will not prevent you from entering shows from other disciplines, including those from other fields up to the Regional Tier. However you can only advance one of those two disciplines to the upper tier. Once you have reached the top with that first discipline, you can advance the second one (from the same field) to the top, while remaining at the top with the first one.
A2: If the Character/Horse is pursuing the Competitor/Athlete career track in both of their slots:
Simply declare one the disciplines as your specialty for the first C/A career and the other for the second C/A career. You may advance those simultaneously but remember that points earned can only be counted once so you will have to attribute them to the correct slot.
Q: What happens if I want my horse/rider to compete in two disciplines from different fields?
A1: If the Character/Horse is pursuing the Competitor/Athlete career track in only one of their slots:
Choosing a discipline to pursue will not prevent you from entering shows from other disciplines, including those from other fields up to the Regional Tier. However you can only advance one of those two disciplines to the upper tier. Because the disciplines are from different fields, you will not be able to advance that second discipline whilst keeping the first one, even once you reach the top with it. To advance that second discipline you will be forced to abandon your advancement with that first discipline.
Q: I don't see my discipline of choice... Why? Can it be added?
A: Some disciplines have been concentrated. You may not see the name of your discipline written down but it is there, just under an 'umbrella' name. Some disciplines may also have been forgotten. Please feel free to respond to this post about your discipline and I will let you know if it is either here but unmentioned or if it had been forgotten. In the case of the latter, I will let you know if it may be added or not. (Chances are that yes - unless it makes other members uncomfortable).
