11 A.M. Corwin House
'Any Christmas wishes, grans?''You know exactly what I want dear.''Grans, I can't afford a horse. We are hardly able to keep Proteus!''There's going to be a horse auction soon, just a couple of miles away. I got Proteus for a dime, look at him now!''You work miracles grandma. I can't.''You don't know, you haven't tried. You're great with horses.''I am nothing like you, though.'I looked over at Puzzle, another one of grandma's rescues. That's what she's passionate about. Saving the damned. I am too scared of failing, a horse can sense that from miles away. It wouldn't work, right? 1 P.M. Local Horse AuctionIt's scary living with grandma sometimes. Not like scary, but the idea that she could pass any moment. Anyone can, I sadly know all about it, but she's old. I'd have no one left. With that in my mind I decided to get the one Christmas present she wants: a horse. I followed her advice and went to the auction. She always tells me that she'd look for the horse that needed her the most, despite her own preferences. She fixed up most of them and sent them to great homes, that's her passion: rehabilitating and rehoming the broken horses. 'Everything and everyone should get a fair chance for a good life', she'd say. I felt nervous. I walked into an old, musty barn. I shivered, not knowing if it was the nerves or the fact that it was bloody cold. I saw horses crammed in small pens. I was surprised to see many good looking horses, why are they here? I mean, why are any of them here but especially those. Some were in awfully poor condition, scrawny and lifeless. Just like the whole place, honestly. I looked over at a pen full of bays, 50 shades of bay HA! I immediately fell in love with a kind looking gentleman, his eyes were soft and he had a funny little place running down his head. He was young, a bit chubby too. I tried to follow grandma's words, so I decided to look at another horse. I hoped for a Christmas miracle since I still had no idea how I was going to fix a neglected horse. In the corner of that same pen was a very dark bay with white markings up to his knees and a gorgeous white face. His coloration was mesmerizing, but that was about it. It was nothing more than a shell of a horse. He was incredibly skinny, dirty and had no sparkle in his eyes. What happened to this gorgeous boy? 'What does that dark bay over there cost?', I asked an elderly man. 'Hmpf, he's a burden. 500 quid. Know what you're getting yourself into young lady. I would pick one of the other three' he shrugged. I just handed the money without saying much. What was I supposed to say anyway? He's probably right. Now I just had to figure out how I was going to take him home. As I walked out I looked back at the remaining horses. It almost physically hurt to not take all of them or at least that sweet bay.

Ahh!!! Gosh, when I got to the bottom of this and saw this poor creature tucked away, I had the same reaction as Josie. Have to take him home. He's going to be Josie's Christmas Miracle. I can already tell!!! Looking forward to seeing where this story goes! (I'm so glad your game cooperated long enough for you to get pictures!)

It wasn't long before I took him home. A horse without a name. I borrowed a car being able to pull another borrowed trailer and loaded him up. He was incredibly easy going, it actually saddened me to see. He seemed completely out of it.
I arrived home, excited to show grandma our new rescue horse. His calmness actually made me think there might be a chance of me actually being able to help this boy. I got him off and yelled for gran. She rushed outside, as far as rushing goes when you're old. I saw her jaw drop, her eyes sparkling like a child's. 'He is gorgeous Josie, I think you chose the right one.' I smiled back at her, patting the skinny bay's neck.
10 A.M. The Next Day, Corwin ResidenceThey drugged him, they drugged him. Right in front of me was the bay that was so calm when I loaded him in. He actually had plenty of life in him, maybe too much. Overwhelmed by his pressence and outbursts I couldn't tell whether he was actually aggressive or freaked out. He pushed me into a corner, I fell and sat up against the fencing. He reared right up in front of me, snorting loudly. 'Grandma!' I loudly sighed. 'Look at him, look at you..' She grinned. 'Help me, what do I do. He's insane!' Grandma was still smirking, adoring the bay stallion. 'Just let him be, leave the pen. Give it some time.' I quickly crawled out. 1 P.M. The Next DayEvery ounce of confidence I had gained - which was next to nothing - was gone. I don't know what to do with a horse like that. I really enjoy Push Button Proteus. I wasn't a horse whisperer like grandma. I went to fill up a haynet and make the yet unnamed bay some food. I decided to follow grandma's advice and let him be. Just bringing him plenty of food, nothing more. Honestly, I was just happy he'd be calm enough to eat his hay. The sight was quite calming itself. Just a broken boy, now safe, eating his snackies. I kept my distance, but definitely stared at him for a good while. Still wishing for this to work out, despite not knowing where to start. 2 P.M. The Next DayI had gone out on a little hack with Proteus, there wasn't much snow left, but it was still freezing. I watched the bay as we rode back into the stables. His ears pricked forward by the sight of Proteus. I decided to move a little closer as he was very receptive of him. Proteus too, was quite intrigued. I let them meet, the bay still looking at Proteus. Proteus quickly lost any real interest. I reached out for his nose, he didn't back away. I shortly touched his cold muzzle. A very, very small spark of hope had reappeared. For the next days, the bay kept staring at Proteus from his pen, everywhere he went.

You know how we normally bribe our horses with cookies and treats? I bribe Crackerjack with Proteus. He's obsessed with him (and Proteus tolerates him). He has been my key to getting closer to Crackerjack. I can lead him now (to places where Proteus is)! I've actually been enjoying this - rather slow - journey. I am honestly not sure as what to do next. Crackerjack let's me pat him occasionally, only when I carry snacks. However, it's much more than I could ever dreamm of. I seriously thought he was going to kill me before. Turns out, he's quite okay.

The Ghost Of ChristmasI looked outside my car window, driving home from the store to get some food for the boys. Clouds were forming rapidly, blocking all the sunlight. It had been cold, snowy and slippery. However, I was not afraid to drive in such conditions, being quite confident in my abilities to steer my good ole' focus. Grandma had definitely warned me and told me to 'drive safe' as she always does. I always found those sayings a bit dumb, like I would ever go out and drive my car head-first into a fir tree on purpose. The heavy snow started to become and actual storm, it was almost apocalyptic. Far ahead of me I noticed a funky golden blob in the white snow. As I focused my eyes I realized it was a horse. A HORSE!? My car started to slip and slide off the poor roads, I tried to correct it but the deep, icy snow completely took away the ability to steer. I frontally crashed into a tree as the snow took away all my traction, no way to brake. Then, there was nothing, for a moment. I regained consciouness in a split second. I was shaken up, but I felt fine. My hands were shaking and not due to the cold. I looked up, my sight being just a bit bluryy, but I could still see that horse. It was like a ghost, a stunning one. Suddenly I felt like an extreme anxiety come over me, pure panic even. What do I do now, I have never been in an accident. I call someone? I call someone. No service. Where am I? No, I know this road. I do right? I started sobbing uncontrollably, not really knowing why. 'That was quite the noise, wasn't it girl?' Noah patted the neck of his mare. He started looking around and quickly noticed smoke coming from the trees. 'C'mon girl', he asked the bay mare for a trot. As they came closer Noah noticed a black Ford Focus slightly curved around a tree. He dismounted his horse and ran over to the car, the bay mare following him since she was brave and curious soul. ' Hey, are you okay!?' he yelled in a concerned tone, quickly trying to open the door. It was somewhat stuck, but could be opened with blunt force. He laid his arm around Josie and pulled her out, immediately consoling her. ' I'm okay, I'm okay', she said with a trembling voice. ' Are you sure? Looks like quite the crash, miss', he replied. Josie started crying. ' I was really scared there for a second, these things never happen to me and now.. and then.. a horse and.. Noah interrupted her. I'm sorry, a horse you said? You sure you good huh?' He shrugged. ' I am NOT crazy, thank you', Josie said seemingly aggitated. 'I meant no harm, I'm sorry. You're just really shaken up. I can't exactly give you a ride home, but I could walk you to a place with actual phone service'. Josie nodded.

Desperately trying to proof myself and that guy wrong, I went back to where I crashed my car. It was still snowing quite heavily. Grandma had called me crazy a time or two, but I didn't care. It was real and I need to see the horse again. What was it doing there anyway? I looked thoroughly, but I couldn't see the palomino anywhere. Maybe I was crazy. That or it just took off, which is also very plausible. I was about to end our little adventure when I saw something 'not white' in the corner of my eye. I squinted my eyes, trying to focus on the dots rather far away from me. No way. I could not believe my eyes. Not only did I see the palomino, she also had a pitch black foal with her. I snapped a picture and took off, eager to show my grandma the picture.
