SHORT INTRODUCTION
Fully named Rotherford Farms Estate (prefix RFE) it was founded way back in October 2011. It has grown from a small backyard stable of two to three horses to a big horse competition facility. Nowadays we are specializing in showing and competing horses in various sim equestrian communities.
Rotherford's main priority are it's Irish Draught and Irish Sport Horse equines, but the team of over 20 permanent employees takes care of many various breeds under our roof. Our top strength lies in the English disciplines such as dressage and show jumping, but our riders occasionally venture into other disciplines such as combined driving, endurance and some western disciplines. Today we are focusing our stable to own the best possible sport horses.
We are actively accepting working students for grooming, stablework and occasionally riding positions over the whole year to help out our team. Feel free to contact us if you have any inquiries.

Even if I don't have my active scrapbook yet, regarding the question to ask. But horses have a minimum of 1 day (off) if there is no competition scheduled, if it is planned to go out to show then I adapt my week by making them work in the morning to leave them free in the afternoon with a private paddock for everyone.

Hope you all had a very merry Christmas and are ready to tackle on a select few new adventures until the year ends! Team Rotherford is on vacation until the first week of January which means I am able to finish up some administrative work (show judging 😉 ) and set up plans for a new stable remodel for 2024. Thankful to have you all with us on our journey!

Out with the old, in with the new!
After a successful 2023 it is time to welcome new challenges and adventures that 2024 is about to bring! Numerous rosettes, trophies and plaques have been brought back to the Estate, and I can only wish for it all over again!
All the horses are currently home, none are at shows, and it is a strange, but a comfortable feeling to know they're all here, safe and sound. Some horses have been moved up a level for the year, some have been retired and some have gotten a new rider. Pictured below:
- Banjo's photo compilation from KJT Finals, where he won. He has been moved to 1.50m classes for this year and it's such a proud feeling as I've had him since he was just a youngster jumping 1.10m!
- Centenario enjoying his first days of retirement. After an amazing team bronze at the Nations Cup this year, individual 7th at the same show and 4th place at the 1.55m at KJT Finals (for which he had to qualify throughout the year!), this 19yo gray has finally hung his bridle and swapped it for halter-less days and all the grass he can eat.
- Our youngest competitor, Anita (14), getting to know her new partner for this season - Heartbreaker. This old man will spend his final show season being a schoolmaster for international Prix St. Georges. Anita leased him from Rotherford because her horses have retired and one is retiring in March this year, so she would've been left without an international horse. Super excited for this combination!

The new year continues on in great spirits, with some already good show results, young horses performing nicely in training and some new cute little arrivals!

Croatia is currently having a heatwave so working the horses is challenging. Baths, shade and super light workouts seem to be the plan for at least the next ten days.

Rode a few horses in the morning when it was colder and called it a day with riding. Just too hot. The horses were out or in the stables and the grooms showered them and made sure they're all kept cool.
I took to some paperwork and getting things ready for France. Rotherford is going to several shows in France soon and it all needs to be organized and in motion for when the departure day comes. I also ordered some new products from Saracen. Alfalfa for my oldies or those who have trouble keeping their weight on and some pasture licks for the fields to keep the horses mostly in shaded areas and full of necessary vitamins and electrolytes. Very much looking forward for them to try it out. And some carrots. One can never have too many carrots!
Also, the show prizes have all been reorganized in my new office and the SUHJA medal display arrived in the mail! One more to collect!
