"Dia duit! (Welcome)" A cheerful voice greets you. "Welcome to Hazelwood."
A small woman waves and smiles warmly.
"And welcome to Henford in Bagley County Ireland." She closes her eyes and gestures with her arm briefly as if taking in the beauty all around again for the first time.
"My little piece of paradise. Please, allow me to show you around."
She guides you towards a stone stable. In the nearby pasture, you see several horses watching you idly.
"The farm itself has been here for ages. We are a bit of a work in progress, but there is potential here. For now, it's just me and my pup Titan taking care of everything, but I hope to hire some help soon."
Amy turns to a modest stable and opens the wooden door. "We currently have 4 stalls but I have plans to expand to at least two more. I need the to recoup some expenses before I can expand." You can smell the sweet smell of hay mixed with light tones of leather. As you take in the stalls, Amy grabs a nearby mop to sheepishly tidy up a spill.
After a short tour including the tack room, she leads you back out into the horse pasture. A curious buckskin mare approaches.
"This is Goldenkiss." Amy laughs as the mare nuzzles and nibbles on her affectionately. "The bay is our boy Mahogany, the grey girl is Misty Moor, and the yearling chestnut boy is their colt, Bramblewood. This is my dream team. They are all Irish Sport horses. Fantastic breed. When you take the speed and performance of thoroughbreds and cross with steady and strong Irish Draughts, the result is magic."
"We have several show circles in Henford, one international class arena and several regional ones. Have you heard of the Fenwick Fair? Great venue and they have top notch Irish horse auctions. That's where I fell for Goldenkiss."
"For our purposes, we have a equitation training corral and a jumping course. We focus on show jumping and eventing currently. Misty has some solid ribbons under her belt and Mahogany is going to surpass her, I just know it."
"I'm so honored to show you around, thank you for coming out today. Keep an eye out for us in the show ring and always feel free to say hi. Also, if you run into someone looking for some part-time work, I may have a job for them."
