Trauma and Crisis Protocol
We have members from all over the world and all walks of life. Our Trauma and Crisis Protocol is a participatory and collaborative way to repair harm and create more community trust.
If someone has said something that has retraumatized you, this protocol is in place to support you and the community through both action and awareness. In addition to the below protocol, please tag Christina so she can facilitate the discussion and offer guidance when needed.

Community Safe Word Protocol
If a discussion occurs that retraumatizes you, or a topic of discussion begins that you're not prepared to be present in, use the safe word in the chat to pause the discussion.
Our community safe word is EAGLE.
When the safe word is activated, it’s the responsibility of everyone present in the discussion to give the person who has said the safe word time to share what has come up for them, if they feel safe and comfortable to do so, or the chance to dismiss themselves and exit the chat before further discussion.
If someone has said something out of place or acted against our Community Rules, the activated safe word also brings about their opportunity to learn how what they said or the way they behaved might have been offensive or hurtful. Give them a chance to apologize and time to commit to learning more so that this doesn’t happen again in the future.
For the safety and comfort of everyone, the admin may request all persons involved to take a break and exit the discussion.
It's so important that we don't judge others for their mistakes. Please remember to be mindful of your communication, but also understand that not everyone shares your unique POV and may not yet be aware of how their words might be offensive. The safe word protocol holds space for us to come together and learn how to create a positive environment, as well as repair harm in a meaningful way.
Thank you for making this a safe place for everyone.
