Talisman Equestrian Scrapbook Talisman Equestrian focusses on breeding, training, and competing high quality, purebred Canadian Horses and Newfoundland Ponies. We also run a small rescue and rehabilitation program and are starting to grow a small team of OTTBs as well Welcome to Talisman Equestrian's Scrapbook! I'll be posting (hopefully) regular pictures of the goings on at our humble breeding/training/competition stables located in the beautiful Fraser Valley of British Columbia. Disclaimer: If you followed Talisman Equestrian on the old forum, many of the first few post will be old news to you, but heck, maybe you'll be glad for the reminder of what our team has been up toFirst, a quick introduction to the Talisman Team: L-R: Selena MacFarland-founder and co-owner, Ciara MacFarland-co-owner, Gwen Albright-head trainer, Maya Johnson-head groom; working student; exercise rider, Wesley Leavitt-groom; exercise rider, Jaylee Lin-working student; groom
All of the Team has equal access to the scrapbook to write stories, anecdotes, etc. and post pictures of whatever they want from around the stables, so expect a bit of everything <3. I'll start by luring you guys in with a picture of Selena riding one of her Canadian Horses, Evergreen Levi Zorah at her first show where she snagged second place:Anyways, I hope you guys stick around because I ain't going anywhere anytime soon

Katie Davis Thanks 4/04/2018 I'd like to introduce my current Newfoundland Pony in training: Thunderbird's Pining For You. I've had her in the program for about 4 months now and since then she's learnt how to jump under saddle and is getting better at using herself correctly. She has a very **ahem** strong personality, not surprising for a little red mare, but she's also brave and willing once you both get on the same page. The first picture is from when we first got her before we moved barns, and the second one is of me jumping her when she was still relatively new at it. Let me know what you think of my little red firecracker!

Jericho Sharpe She's a little spitfire, but so careful and so much fun. Not one for the hunter ring, that's for sure

6/04/2018 Today I'd like to introduce one of our beautiful Canadian Horse stallions: Copperdale Koko Abu. Abu is a big, sweet, loving boy who is super dependable and hard working. He loves to please and is a total puppy dog. He can be a little overbearing to some horses, but he gets on surpisingly well with our other Canadian Horse stud, Boston. Abu really loves to do any work you ask him to do, but shines brightest in Dressage. He's an event horse, but we like doing dressage shows with him too so he can show off his dancing shoes. This photo of Abu is from last month during a dressage school with my lovely partner Gwen. Gwen really knows how to get any horse to look fancy in a double bridle! PS: let me know if you want to know the method to the madness known as Canadian Horse registered names!! It's actually super interesting and informative!

10/04/2018 I'm super excited to finally be able to give you all a little tour of our brand new facilities! In my opinion, they're just perfect (although we're still working on building a new indoor arena)! First, a tour of the Stallion barn:
The mare barn is almost identical but it has additional broodmare paddocks and a round pen:
As you can probably imagine, we're pretty happy to have the horses settled in, especially since our three pregnant mares look just abouut ready to pop!

Thank you guys! constantine I always find myself underdercorating, so this means a lot! Effie Phoenix The Canadian Horses' names actually follow the rl Canadian Horse registry requirements and the Newfoundland Ponies all have names related to trees (idk why, just because ) danielle Thank you!! I'm super in love with it!

14/04/2018 "Don't you think that's a bit dangerous?" Ciara flicked off the clippers and glanced up to find Wesley leaning up against the wall, his arms folded. She rolled her eyes and switched the clippers back on, turning back to Dipsy's furry chest. "I'm fine, besides, he's practically asleep, and how else am I supposed to get all his hair off? He's not exactly tall... Why are you here." The last part was more of a comment than a question. Wes shook his head, a small smile pulling at his lips. "Well, he could spook at something, you know, and I came here to ask you if you could ride Henna for me on Thursday while I'm out of town, but I can see you're terribly busy right now, so I could just ask Maya or Jaylee instead." He shrugged his shoulders showing that he couldn't care less who rode his mare. "Oh-um, no I can do it, it's fine" Ciara said, stumbling a bit over her words. She felt her face getting warm and pretended to focus on a particularly stubborn patch of hair. She felt more than heard the huff of laughter that escaped Wesley's throat. "Much appreciated." Irritated, Ciara brushed a pile of hair off her lap and turned to Wes, "Don't you have something to do other than watching me clip?" Wesley shrugged again, "I suppose I might, but I have some time to spare, and you're cute when you're annoyed." Ciara scowled at him as he let out another low laugh before detaching himself from the post he was leaning on. She watched as he turned and walked away. She hated how he was always asking her for help, even if it meant riding his lovely mare. He was always so annoyingly charming and casual, and she hated how easy it was for him to make her feel flustered. She shook here head angrily and let the buzz of the clippers drown out his fading footsteps through the barn aisle

16/04/2018 I am beyond excited to introduce Talisman Equestrian's first foal crop. We kept it small this year with just 3 mares bred, but we are so happy to see all 3 happy and healthy with wonderful little foals at their sides! First, we have Talisman's From the Ashes (Ash), by Thunderbird's Butternut Squish, out of Thunderbird's Hickory Dickory Dock who was born two days early. Ash is a gorgeous little fellow and his hyperpigmentation shows us that he'll be grey like his momma.
Next, there's Talisman Abu Felix, by Copperdale Koko Abu and out of Skyfall Rio Xena. Felix is a big, friendly boy who was born only five days after Ash. His mother Xena is so proud and protective of her new baby.
And last, born 12 days overdue, is Talisman Boston Fiona, by Skyfall Snookie Boston, out of Greenfield Tommy Adele. Fiona is a little more shy than our two colts and she likes to stay as close as she can to Adele, who doesn't mind showing off her filly to anyone she can.
We're all very proud of our mares and hopeful for the bright future ahead of these babies.
