#1 - The beginnings
It was a beautiful day across the country. Birds sung, trees rustled, squirrels chirped; the land was alive. The waters were crystal clear, the flowers started blooming and the ground echoed from horse hooves.
Zoey woke up in the morning to the sound of a whinnying horse right outside her door. Startled, she got up on her feet and bolted through the door - mighty Leo was standing right there, like a proud little puppy who just chewed through a pair of shoes. Confused as she was, Zoey put him back in his stall and quickly decided to check the security cameras. It was like a breeze of cold morning air to her - could there be someone who broke in?
A few minutes of fast-forwarding later, she came across the footage from that very morning. She watched the screen, petrified, just as the moment was coming on.. there's Leo.. and.. he unlocked himself out of his stall and started sniffing around everywhere. Silly horse! Then it clicked to her - it was well past feeding time, as she unintentionally overslept.
Zoey fed the horses and then took her bike into town. The cabin wasn't built yet and she was still sleeping in the tack room that became her bedroom; but, there wasn't any way she could get a warm breakfast out there and she had had enough of cold, chewy sandwiches. About two hours later she was back, and since the day looked promising and the clouds didn't seem to make an appearance, she decided that it was the perfect day that Leo should be brought back into work after his long vacation.
Up into the roundpen, everything worked like a treat. The big red mountain seemed to remember all his cues and they worked at building his shape back up. Every morning since then, Zoey lunged him, adding more and more difficulty as he springed back into form. A few weeks pass by and we stop onto today, when Leo is looking good and he appears ready to start taking a rider again.
