Margaux wasn't the most experienced rider - or even horsewoman for that matter; she had blank moments of not understanding what pieces of tack went where or what feed was given to which horses, but she had a thick skin and buckets of perseverance. Winter had been spent battling the ferocious weather as well as Nessie; the flighty grey mare she was somehow expected to look after. There had been too many moments of trotting gracefully before suddenly Nessie catapulted them both sideways because of that dangerous shadow just waiting to snatch them up, or that rock right over there with monsters hiding behind it. Their few ventures out from the stables had mixed results; they knew Nessie just needed time to finish growing up, especially in her mind; but as Margaux hopefully asked for canter and received a loud snort and a sideways buck taking them far away from the low white fences, she felt her heart sink further that Nessie was still just a baby.

The best thing about dating and living with a professional photographer - never having to make excuses for stopping to take a picture; even in the middle of a horse show. Demet had always enjoyed taking pictures; mostly of her bay gelding Moose as well as the dogs and - well, she just enjoyed taking pictures. But with guidance and a fresh spurt of self confidence she was much more comfortable taking pictures now; although she wasn't quite ready to invest in her own camera after twice breaking Benny's. Trec was a new discipline to her; she'd gotten too upset after Moose watched their old horsebox drive away to shows without him now he was retired from eventing so she'd managed to convince Benny that she was more than responsible enough to read a map and not get lost. Moose was a true gentleman and never one to play up; he was far too used to standing still for large amounts of time whilst Demet chatted away or simply just forgot he was even still there, waiting for her to return and remove his tack. So as they ambled through the beautiful setting, he came to a stop as Demet plucked the phone from her jacket pocket, wriggling around in the saddle to try and capture the sprawling sandy dunes and long stretch of warm sand curving around the ocean nestled right behind them. Sure, they wouldn't win the class - but she'd have a great photo to show Benny when they returned.

 Lotus gives a long huff as Cecily's trainer, Mallory, makes final adjustments to their attire. Lotus, in her younger days, showed pretty competitively at high levels with Mallory. Now, Lotus gets the easy life of packing around a little nugget over puddle jumps, and squeezing in a nap in while the kid paints.
