Well, we had quite the surprise today! Jaqueline had just settled back into the life at the stable from some shows with the Arabians when she suddenly got a frantic call from her agent who helped her track down some horses for sale. "Jacqueline! This is an emergency." The phone call was urgent, and held quite the bit of panic in the tone of her agent. "Calm down Evelyn. Tell me what's going on." Jaqueline said, holding the phone to her ear as she sat down on the couch in the decades-old family home on the property. "Its Magnolia Hollow over in the Arabian Peninsula. They've gone into bankruptcy and they have a pregnant mare and her nearly 6 month old foal at risk of being sent to slaughter." Suddenly, Jacqueline sat bolt upright. That was an emergency. "Tell the lawyer that I'll take the mare and her foal. Don't let anything happen to them. I'll be there on the next flight." With that, Jacqueline quickly booked a flight to the airport nearest the stable. Making arrangements to ship a pregnant mare and foal back to the states, she quickly repacked some of her belongings in a carry-on bag. The flight to the Arabian Peninsula was long, but Jacqueline would go anywhere to prevent some of the most ancient Arabian blood there was on the market. Finally reaching the site of the now bankrupt Magnolia Ranch. Walking into the formerly busy stable yard, she quickly tracked down Evelyn. "Where are they Evelyn?" She said, waiting for her agent to lead her to the mare and foal. When she saw them, she noticed that the mare was heavily pregnant. "When's she due, and who's the father Evelyn?" Jacqueline asked. "She's in foal by their jet black award-winning stallion, who has already been taken by the owners as one of the only horses they kept back. And she's due in 4 months and a half." Nodding, Jacqueline went to work out some more finer details with the lawyer and the owners of the barn. Once all the details were worked out, the mare and foal were loaded up and driven to the airport, and then shipped to the USA. Once they reached the stable lands once again. Parking the truck and trailer close to the barn, she unloaded the jetlagged mare and foal. "Welcome to your new home girls." Jacqueline said, leading the tired mare and foal to one of their foaling stalls until they settled in. Then, they would move the foal to one of the stalls on the other side of the barn since she didn't appear to be nursing anymore. Welcome Al Zahrah and her filly Al Samira to the stables! They came all the way to Grand View Estates from the Arabian Peninsula, and Al Zahrah is expecting what could possibly be a jet black foal, or maybe even potentially two! She's quite large for being so far out from her due date yet, so a vet visit will determine if she's expecting twins or not! We're hoping for twin foals, and potentially even jet black foals!

Well.. We've got some interesting news! Turns out, the chestnut filly we received from Magnolia Hollow isn't actually Al Zahrah's filly at all! She just was stalled with the mare at Magnolia Hollow for some strange reason. The vet did a quick DNA test when he came by to check out the two of them shortly after we received them. Al Samira has since been separated from the dapple grey mare, and Al Zahrah, who we call Rah-Rah around the barn now, was moved to our foaling barn since the vet determined she was much closer to her due date than we were originally told by the vets in the Arabian Peninsula when we got them, and would likely be giving birth within the next week rather than 4 months from now! Anyways, Rah-Rah went into labor around 9pm or so, and we noticed things weren't progressing as they should've been. So we quickly called the vet, who was on call anyways since he lived on-site, and he quickly came over. With some assistance and a long time, we are happy to announce that everything went well, and now for our other news.... Notice anything unusual in this photograph? x3
You probably guessed it! Rah-Rah gave birth to TWIN foals. Both are jet black at the moment, and we noticed one is quite a bit smaller than the other. The larger of the two foals ended up a colt, who we've tentatively named Al Ra'id. The smaller foal ended up as a filly, who is also tentatively named Al Khalida. We know twins statistically end up either dying or with at least one dying. For now, these two are under 24/7 watch and care from our on-site vet. No matter what, we plan to give these foals the best chance of survival possible. The rabicano at the back is the colt, and the one more in the camera's view is our little filly.
Welcome to Grand View Estate Al Ra'id and Al Khalida!

Frolicking Foals!
We were so surprised this morning to see snow on the ground! Rah-Rah and her twins are doing great, and both are thriving! However, Rah-Rah is still very wary of us, and she won't let us near her foals hardly at all! It took quite some effort to even get those little foal halters on them, and to do that we had to put Rah-Rah in one of the other foaling stalls. Needless to say she was throwing a fit and nearly tore down the stall's door trying to get back to her foals! We figured we wouldn't bother trying to put blankets on them as well, since she was throwing such a fit over just a few moments of putting halters on the foals. We did let them out into the field this evening for a short while, and Rah-Rah watched us with a wary expression from a distance away from the fence. We aren't sure what happened to her prior to use taking her in, but we think the reason she was so easy to handle is because she was so stressed and jetlagged from her flight to our barn. She's turned into quite the aggressive mare! We've got some plans to work on her aggression.
Once her foals, Al Ra'id (who we call Clyde) and Al Khalida (who we call Bonnie) are a little older, we will be starting on some basic training with their mom. In our barn, we do not believe in using harsh methods to work things out from our horses. We use the method of Join Up to train our horses, and will do the same process with this three additions to the barn.
