Nestled in the quaint village of Pemberton, Airdale was founded in 1985 by Sarah and John Denise as a small property with a little over 10 acres. Their small run operation was a private sanctuary the couple shared in peace with a few retired warmbloods. However, it wasn't until their daughter Denise was born did the place really take off. Memorized by the serenity of it all, the farm was eventually known as a prime location to hold retired warmblood champions. Horses were everywhere; fancy warmbloods gracefully galloping across the fields or tiredly nestled in the grass near the trees. It was something Denise called a wonderland, and it wasn't long before she found herself being offered a gift on her 16th birthday - a little colt she could call her own. Studying every book and listening to every word, no day was spent without the pregnant mare as the future's promise settled heavily into her heart. She wished every moment could hold the desire she had - an environment that would be bustling with energy and ambition. However, as much as that was the foundation of the new Airdale, it became long forgotten for years up until the death of Sarah and John. Grief and depression weren't exactly what Denise wanted - but it might have been exactly what she needed. Amidst the broken home and forgotten dreams, it was a journey where discovery lead the best way to recovery, and a sanctuary was remade in the exact place it was broken. Struggling, Airdale barely made it back onto its feet, but once it did, it quickly became a new dream - a land melding into the hearts of others. Now, Airdale resides as a place where volunteers and drifters with passion and drive can slowly start healing themselves while also breeding and raising horses as valuable as time.

"An Evening's Promise"
"Happiness will
seep in through that tiny little opening in your window just like the first morning rays of the sun, and spread its arms and light up your world. You just have to let the dark night pass, the sun will rise and so will you." - words.entwined

"Photoshoot Shenanigans"
"Lucas!" Harley laced her arms, pulling them closer towards her while she watched the boy scowl. "Hold him still!"
"I can't! He won't stop trying to bite my shirt!" ___________ Releasing a deep sigh, she bit down on her lip. Photoshoots typically weren't too much of a hassle since she had spent quite a bit of time figuring out ways to calm even the trickiest of horses - being a full-time photographer has brought some interesting situations. However, the problem presenting itself now was much more troubling than she could imagine. It wasn't Scout, the gorgeous chestnut colt standing in front of her that made her want to rip her hair out. Instead, it was the scrawny looking teen that was trying to get the stallion away from him. "You know how to handle a horse right?" He grumbles. "Of course I know how to handle a horse!" She raises her eyebrows, questioning. "Then prove it." Concentrating, Lucas opens his mouth to say something but ends up freezing once his eyes catch something. "Alex." Turning around, Harley saw the dark-haired boy leaning up against a wall behind them. He watched them both before slipping his hands into his front pockets, slightly amused. The side of Harley's mouth quirked up and her anger dissipated. "Finally! Fix your stupid friend!" Alex chuckled. "And what's the problem this time?" "The horse thinks he's candy!" Glancing over, he watched as the horse nibbled on the grey shirt. "Somebody likes you." "Yeah, no shit Alex. Help me." Taking a deep breath, Alex pushes himself up and walks over to him. "I'll do it." He pauses, walking towards the horse. "By the way, you slept next to a bucket of treats last night." "Oh." His eyes went wide in realization. "Do you think that might be why...?" Harley shakes her head. "Only you Lucas, only you." Grabbing her camera, she lifts it up to her face. "Now, please, let's get back to business..."

"12.23 Show Entry"
(In light of recent events, I decided to finally enter my first competition on another forum. I may or may not have spent hours just trying to find the right pose. Even then there were some clipping issues?? I think my horse is just a thicc boi lol)
There was never peace at Airdale anymore. The bustling noise of strangers stomped the grounds, and rumbles from the trucks disrupted the air - there was no quiet; no more haven. What was left of the once peaceful place was now gone, going up in the ashes that consumed every construction. The experience was overwhelming to say the least, and I had to make an escape. That's why when I found an ad for a local horse show, I couldn't help but jump at the opportunity to start showing again... _______________
The arena was vivid with colors. From warmbloods to ponies, the place was crowded with competitors awaiting their turn to impress the judges. Small nickers echoed with the sound of horseshoes clashing against the hard ground. Everyone was anxious - bustling with energy. It was excitement and worry that settled deep in your bones, stirring even the calmest of horses. Ghost was no exception. He pawed the ground restlessly, striking every second. Snorting, he lift his head up high, ears alert. Glancing around, he sent out a slight call to a passing mare before stirring up the ground again. "Easy boy, save that energy." Katharine reached down and gently patted his neck. "We're next."
The second they heard their cue, they hurried out.
Going out into the arena brought a joy that nobody could deny. It was a place where she could leave everything behind. She missed this. They missed this. Flying over the jumps was exhilarating, like breathing a big breath of fresh air after suffocating for far too long. It wasn't perfect - being out of work for such a long period of time put them at a disadvantage. However, neither of them wondered or cared - too at peace with what they were able to accomplish. It was no wonder both felt like they left the arena with huge smiles on their faces.
