Found ya! I love that barn, the colors are so soft What a lovely album you have here! I have to say that I love the creativeness on Caledonia Stud logo Took forever for me to get back on here, oops But thank you both so much! My logo was made by someone, I completely forget who though, dang. It was so long ago! I need to figure that out Well, after forever away, I'm back! Real life got crazy, but it's all on track and solid once again! I have missed this community so much.
So, in celebration of being back, a new little fun horse is home at Caledonia!
Welcome Back Home Miss Jellybean!
My little miss Jellybean, a 22 year old Canadian Sport Horse Mare. She was my first horse, and the love of my life. I never outgrew her as I've always been so small and can still ride ponies. But, when I turned 15 and my Dad got me a new horse to take me further in shows, we offered Jellybean to my cousin who wanted to get show miles. Jellybean was the perfect schoolmaster for Kayla, and I loved watching them show together. Overtime though, me and my cousin grew apart and I saw her and Jellybean less and less. It broke my heart, because of how much Bean meant to me. However, I knew she was in good hands with Kayla and I didn't need to worry. She was safe, happy, and healthy. She wasn't mine to worry over and I had to come to terms with that, and eventually I did.
Bean has never left my mind though, I've always wondered about how her and my cousin Kayla are doing. I hadn't talked to Kayla in years, she drew herself away from most of the family. They were consistently on my mind though.
But, about a week ago, I got a phone call that answered so many longing questions. Me and Kayla talked on the phone for almost 3 long hours, catching up over lost years. At the end of the conversation, Kayla asked me a question. A question that threw me off guard but I couldn't say no to.
"Evyn, will you take Jellybean back again? I can't afford to board her anymore and I know how much she meant to you. I don't want to up and sell her on you, she was yours before mine. I also want to know she ends up safe, in a good persons hands. Not a bad persons. I love her so much, she's my heart horse. If you can't, I understand. I know you must be so busy running your stable and other horses."
I paused for a minute, in shock. Then a wide smile crossed my face and tears welled into my eyes, I could not say no to having my first baby back in my hands. I began arranging transport immediately, she was a 3 hour drive away and I couldn't wait. I had a busy schedule the whole week, so I arranged for the following week to have her brought to Caledonia Stud.
Today was finally the day though. Finally the day I would get to see Jellybean for the first time in years. I paced and paced, waiting for the trailer to pull up. My friend and fellow trainer Alyson stood beside me and laughed at my anxious behavior. She kept telling me it would be okay and that she would remember me. When the truck and trailer pulled up and my barn hand got out and opened the trailer, I began to cry. I didn't even see her yet. As he walked her off, I was in awe. She was here. She looked so much older and much more mature. She wasn't a pure deep black anymore, she has lightened so much, especially in her face. Which, made sense but, it is hard to believe. She still looks young though. Jellybean is stunning and looks very good for her age, it's shocking. She began prancing and acting just as I remembered her, my spunky little black beauty mare. You would never guess her age just by her attitude and energy. I was full on bawling at this point.
Flash forward after an hour of just standing there petting her and sobbing, I began walking her around the large grass arena. She was so spunky and full of attitude. Even though she was being so spunky, I barely held onto her lead. She was still as well behaved as when I gave her to my cousin years ago. I'm so happy she hasn't changed much, still my sassy little mare with a good head. Just as I remembered her. She looks so pretty in the bright pink my cousin's daughter put her in. I never thought to put her in pink all those years ago.
So welcome home Jellybean, I can't wait to admire you in the pasture from my bedroom window every morning. I can't wait for all our walks around the property and just laid back ground work. My pretty little pasture puff. You'll spend all your last days with me, I promise.
