As the title says I'm pretty sure my laptop is fried. If your on your computer and your tired don't put a glass full of soda anywhere near your laptop. Unfortunately I did and ended up spilling almost the entire glass on my laptop I was going to start backup of all my files this weekend cause I planned on getting a new computer and then this happened. So needless to say if it doesn't turn on I will have to rebuild everything and remake my characters and recreate my world. Hopefully it will start and I will be able to at least back some of it up. Keeping fingers crossed. As for now I am on my old lap top and will try to recreate some things. If anyone has any suggestions about how to dry out my laptop faster they would be greatly appreciated.

Omg I know the feeling, I did the exact same thing a year ago! I spilled a whole pint of water on my laptop and splash, besides the two Sims 3 equestrian centres I lost the schoolwork of months (try to explain that to the teachers!) all the photos and so on...Don't drink water from pints people, they are for beer All the backups were, naturally, in the state of "I'll make them next week". Maybe some computer repair service could try and rescue your files? I haven't had money to ask for that so I'm not sure. I really hope you can get at least something recovered

Can you remove the laptop's hard drive? It may fit in your current laptop or you can purchase a connector that will allow you to plug it in like an external hard drive.
I would personally do this over trying to turn the laptop on or charge it, both might cause further damage.

Going computer shoping tomorrow for computer parts, having one built for me, so will wait and see what happens.

I don't want to take the chance of screwing up my old laptop. Always good to have a back up

It looks like it will cost around 40 dollars to have a diagnostic done on my laptop. If the hard drive is still good it will cost more to transfer stuff from that drive. I picked up my new computer today and have started installing everything, then download what I need and will probably remake everything. The only good thing is all the crap I wanted to uninstall from sims isn't there so I can just download what I know I am going to use. Hopefully I will be able to get some horses remade so I can enter some shows. Wish me luck
