Meet Pickles
shetland pony. 8hh. jet black.
This is Pickles. She's our only Shetland at Phoenix Hill Farm and is looking for a companion.
Background on her:
- Pickles arrived at Phoenix Hill Farm three years ago. We rehomed her from the Blue Cross Re-homing Sanctuary after she was neglected. She has sweet-itch and this was left un-managed causing her to rub herself raw and almost completely bald along her back and rump. We have a feeling she'd been knocked around since she was so nervous. This mare had special conditions with her on rehoming and since my boss Maxwell knew one of the managers at Blue Cross Sanctuary he trusted us to nurse her back to health. Pickles is managed with steroid injections and tablets most of the year but gets winter completely free of medication since there are no midges around. We find it hard to administer her medication because she hates it so much along with worming, trimming hooves and dentistry. With the right handling Pickles has come a long way and is regularly handled. We love her at the farm she's a yard favourite for sure. She's looking for a companion shetland of a similar height to be her play-mate. A mare or gelding would be suitable she's 4 years old and it would be nice for her to have a horse of similar age. Our photo album will be updated regularly with photos of the two of them together and an update on how they're doing. We don't mind if the pony has special requirements or health problems as long as they are manageable.
If you think you have the right pony for Pickles please send a PM with a photo and info on your pony and we will get back to you ASAP.
Thank you.
