Location
This is a State event, meaning it is being hosted in a large town or city within your state or region. The hours of your drive will vary according to where you are based, but the location will likely still reflect attributes of your home world. The show grounds are much more lively and populous, and the facilities are certainly a step up from the smaller events you typically attend around your home town. There's a commentary "box" by the main arena, and a handful of event photographers are scattered about the grounds. Entry is free for spectators!Riders are encouraged to make the trip to St. Claire City for this show! Event Rules - ESRPG
- If you are not interested in collecting XP and playing the ESRPG, you do not need to worry about the rules in this section. Skip down to the general rules instead!
- Your horse and/or rider is qualified to compete in this show if:
- They have competed in at least one Regional show this year, or
- They have earned 300 Qualifying Points (QP)
+ For those unsure, if you've entered three local shows, or placed third or above twice at local level, you qualify. - If you enter this show as an ESRPG competitor and are not qualified for State level, you will be penalised.
+ I will be checking.
+ According to the rules, it should be a straight-up DQ. You're lucky I'm soft. C:
+ If this bothers you, think of reality: you can't just roll up to a big show with your paddock hack. - The eligible careers for this show are Athlete (horses) and Competitor (characters). However, futurity horses and educators are welcome to enter for 50XP. Veterinarians who represent a business (such as their clinic) may enter for 100XP (and are permitted to do a health-check type of entry).
- Horses can only collect XP once per career. Only horses clearly visible in the entry can earn XP.
- Competitors are allowed to ride multiple horses throughout the competition, but they may only collect XP once per career. Similarly, Veterinarians and Trainers may appear as many times as they wish, but may only collect XP once.
- XP can be collected once the entry is posted (it must fulfill entry requirements listed below!)
- All cash play is optional! If you don't play with RP cash, you can ignore the fees and payouts.
Event Rules - General
- Max 4 entries per member per discipline.
- Each horse may only enter once (but you may include more than one picture per entry).
- Open to all breeds, and all types of characters, including fantasy.
- Horses must be over the age of 4 to enter.
- Handlers may be any age, but please be realistic- no six-year old prodigies in the 2* eventing.
- Competitors are allowed to ride multiple horses throughout the competition.
- No WIP posts! Post your entry only when it is 100% finished.
- Refusals, bad behavior, or injuries shown in your entry will not affect your ability to win the show overall.
- Disclaimer: By entering this show, you acknowledge that the winners of this event are determined by the event host, and based on their own criteria (see Judging). It will be judged to the best of their ability and based on integrity, however, judging is completely subjective. Results will be up to the judge's preferences and perspective.
- There will be no extension for this show. You have plenty of time to enter. Plan accordingly.
Qualifying Points
Qualifying Points (QP) are another aspect of the ESRPG, separate from Experience Points (XP). If you're not playing the RPG, you don't need to read this section! The Qualifying Points you stand to gain from this show are listed below!
SHOW TIER | PLACE | QP EARNED |
STATE | ○ Participation Only ○ 1st place ○ 2nd place ○ 3rd place ○ 4th place | ○ 300 QP ○ 600 QP ○ 525 QP ○ 450 QP ○ 375 QP |
Entry Requirements
- You must submit at least one photo and a minimum 2 sentence caption about that photo.
- Did you get that? The caption is not optional. That's right! I'm making you do it. A little bit of writing won't kill you, I promise.
- If submitting more than one photo, please clearly stipulate which image you intend to be judged.
- The entry should feel like a state show! Something a little larger and busier than the last ESEF show you entered, but remember, this isn't the Olympics, either. This isn't even the Nationals.
- The entry must capture the appropriate weather mentioned in the event's details.
- Riders and horses should be turned out in gear appropriate for their discipline.
- Arenas should meet the requirements of the discipline and be congruent with the show schedule. Indoor classes are on sand footing.
Judging
This event will be judged by community vote and by the host (which really just means that I will be deducting from your community score if you ignore the weather conditions or ride your class without your helmet, for example)Judging will be impacted by the following:
- Creativity, Originality, and Overall Execution - Does this entry stand apart from the rest? Is it pleasing to look at?
- Conformity - Do the elements of the entry match those required by the event details?
- Realism - Are the horse and handler correctly turned out?
As the host also wishes to enter, classes the host enters will have a link to the scores made available- with voter names removed for discretion.
Classes with more than 15 entrants will be split in two (or more if applicable) for ease of voting, however, the class will be judged as a whole and then split by score.
Additionally, the host will pick a handful of favourite entries (regardless of placement) for an extra prize.
