Short Story:
"I still can't believe we let Megan enter this class. These jumps are huge!" Jill said nervously, watching as the pair entered the arena at a trot.
"Megan has been jumping three foot three for almost two years now. It's not like we just threw her in there saying "fake it till you make it.", Plus, Merlot is a large horse with lots of experience under his belt. He could step over those jumps if he wanted to and is going to catch mistakes if she messes up. We couldn't have given her a better horse." Liam told her confidently, taking the hand she was nervously chewing her nails on. Jill's eyes wouldn't leave the two as they charged around the arena, clearing the first jump with inches to spare.
"Just look at them go, there's nothing to be worried about." he added. The two cleared all but once fence which made Jill lean forward on the outside rail incase she needed to jump over. But luckily Merlot saved her and they carried on like nothing happened.
The woman sighed of relief when the stallion settled down to a trot then a forward walk out of the arena.
She jogged down where the pair was and gave the big bay a well deserved pat on his sweaty neck.
Megan was smiling from ear to ear when she swung off and hit the ground.
"He was so good! He totally saved me towards the end there too. Think we have a shot at top three?"
Jill smiled at the beaming girl in front of them and nodded.
"You've got first in my book."
