♦ 4.2.18 ♦ Albright Family Memory Book
Welcome to my Memory Book! Seeing that we are on a new forum, I decided instead of moving everything from my album on the old forum to the new forum, that I would condense everything there into a google slide. Just click on photo below to take a look at a little of my families history. Enjoy!More photo's may be added to memory book above. Photo's posted after this post will be present time. (Competitions, goings on, etc)

♦ 4.7.18 ♦ New Arrivals
"Hurry up Travis they're at the airport" I yelled as I grabbed my jacket and headed out the door to the car. Finally after all the emails back and forth with Susan in Australia, our two Koolies were here. I know some of you may be asking yourself, "What the hell is a Koolie?" Well a Koolie is a breed of working dog from Australia. I fell in love with the breed on a trip to Australia, and after doing some research on the breed and finding a reputable breeder that would export to Canada, I had to have not one but two of them. It seemed to be taking forever to get to the airport. "Where did all this traffic come from? I swear none of them know how to drive" I had no patience what so ever when it came to driving in city traffic. "Relax babe, they'll still be there even if we are a little bit late" Travis was always so good at calming me down. His voice always had a calming effect on me. I guess you could say he was a Kayla Whisperer. It seemed like every smell possible hit me as we entered the airport. I hated airports with a passion, just way to many people bumping into you anywhere you walked. And it seemed that the majority of people had forgotten what good hygiene was. "Over there Travis, that's where we have to go to get them." After making our way to the counter and showing all required documents, paying import fees etc we sat down and waited. I couldn't sit still, I was so excited to finally see them. "Ms. Albright here they are, your all set to go" I knelt down to take a peak at them. They looked so scared and confused. "Poor babies, it's alright your almost home." After what seemed like the longest drive ever, we finally arrived home. We put the carriers in a spare room that we had set up for them. After opening both carriers we closed the baby gate to keep them in the room. Travis headed off to bed, but of course I stayed put. Sitting down on the floor quietly waiting for them to leave their carriers. After what seemed like hours, Scout (the male) poked his head out of the carrier, smelling the new surroundings. Cautiously heading towards the water dish I had set out for them, sniffing the water first before having any. Shortly after Sheba (the female) followed suit. Still sitting quietly on the floor on the other side of the baby gate, Scout approached and sniffed. Slowly placing my hand on the baby gate so he could get my scent. "Your such a handsome boy Scout" Repeating the same actions when Sheba approached. I felt someone touch my shoulder, I looked up to see Travis shaking his head and letting out a small laugh. "Did you sleep here all night babe?" Feeling a little silly and embarrassed I stretched my legs and got up. "I didn't want them to be alone, they seemed so scared last night."
It's been over a month now since getting Scout and Sheba, but it seems like they have always been apart of our family. After some coaxing with their favorite treats I was able to get a pic of my two babies. Sheba is the black and tan, Scout is the blue merle.

♦ 4.21.18 ♦ Canadian Rustic Pony
Trillium EC offers riding lessons at it's training centre. After doing some research to look for the perfect pony to use as lesson ponies, we decided to purchase some Canadian Rustic Ponies. At the same time we can promote the beautiful breed of pony. The Canadian Rustic Pony is a breed of pony that originated in Canada, particularly Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
History The pony is the result of a crossing between the Heck horse and Welsh pony-Arabian horse crosses. Breeders developed the breed by crossing Heck horses from the Atlanta Zoo in Atlanta, Georgia with Arabian horse-Welsh pony crosses. On January 23, 1989, the Canadian Rustic Pony Association was formed, incorporated under the new Canadian federal Animal Pedigree Act, also known as Bill C-67. Prior to this, since 1978, Canadian rustic ponies had been registered through a registry based in the United States, and as of September 1989, 72 ponies had been US-registered. These ponies were eligible to become double-registered under the Canadian and US registries, and many did so. No ponies were found outside of Manitoba and Saskatchewan as of September 1989, but this was expected to change as more breeders became aware of the new breed.
Characteristics These ponies stand between 12.2 and 13.2 hands (50 and 54 inches, 127 and 137 cm) high. They can be gray, buckskin, dun or bay, have primitive markings such as dorsal and zebra stripes, and have partially raised manes. The facial profile is straight or slightly dished, with a prominent jaw. The neck is thick but arched, the girth and shoulders thick, and the croup slightly sloping. The legs are strong, and the ponies are said to move fluidly, especially at the trot. The Canadian Rustic Pony is used mainly for jumping, driving or as family pets.

♦ 5.4.18 ♦ Newest Additions
For the past few weeks I have been thinking about bringing some of my flat racers here to compete. But I love making horses, so instead I figured, why not make myself a couple of new babies to race with. After thinking about what racers I wanted to make, I decided on 2 inductees in the Canadian Horse Racing Hall Of Fame. The first one I wanted to make was Mine That Bird (Inducted in 2015). I just fell in love with his whole story, and the odds against him winning the Kentucky Derby. Plus he's a handsome little fella that stands at 15hh. The second one I decided to make was Izvestia (Inducted in 1999). After seeing a photo of him I fell in love with his grey coat. When I did a little research on him, it broke my heart. Competing in the Rothmans International at Woodbine he suffered a broken leg in the early running and was put down after being vanned off the track. I wasn't able to find many photos of him, but I hope I did Izvestia and Mine That Bird justice with my sim version of them. Mine That Bird

♦ 5.14.18 ♦ An Early Morning Mother's Day Ride
It was early as Kayla wiggled out of bed so she wouldn't wake up Travis. When Kayla got downstairs, Scout and Sheba were patiently waiting by the back door to be let out. She grabbed a coffee and headed out the back door with the dogs. The grass was covered in dew and it was foggy. She had left her riding boots at the barn and only had on her flip flops, so by the time she made it to the barn her feet were soaked. "Happy Mother's Day Kayla!" Kayla let out a tiny scream, she didn't realize Kevin her stable hand was already at the barn doing his morning duties. "Thanks Kevin, you startled me. I didn't know you were already here.""Sorry bout that, wanted to finish the morning chores a little early so I can take my family out for brunch for Mother's Day." Kevin replied as he went off to continue with his morning chores. Kayla headed to her office to grab a towel to wipe her dew covered feet and put some socks on. Thankfully she always had some spare socks in one of the cupboards. She put on her riding boots and headed towards Nate's stall. "Good morning my handsome boy, how are we today?" Kayla asked as he poked his head out his stall door, letting out a loud snort. Kayla saddled up Nate and led him out of the barn where Sheba and Scout were waiting for her and Nate. "Come on you two, let's go for a ride." Kayla said while looking down at Scout and Sheba, who had been waiting patiently to hear those magic words. They headed off along the trail through the forest, past the broken remains of an old Military building, enjoying the early morning air and birds singing.
